I gave it a three star because Amazon.com shouldn't be referring it as a recommended buy However, after receiving the GPS and the antenna, I found out you can't use an external antenna with a TomTom One Third Edition.I can't give it a perfect mark because I know nothing about it. I don't know how well this item works. However, Amazon.com put this in as a recommended purchase when I purchased my TomTom One Third Edition.
it was solved by adding the external antenna, my gps gets more satellites than my tv does and in any weather or location. so i mounted it in my dashboard and it looks great it's out of direct sunlight, the thieves cant see it so the only problem was reception. i own a full sized chevy silverado and had plenty of dashboard space. i didn't want the unit on top of the dash or suction cupped to the window.
It didn't really help and I solved the problem by moving the TomTom from the middle of the front window to the side where the reception was stronger. I bought the product due to poor reception through the window.
Greatly enhances the operation of the Tom Tom.I use the Tom Tom inside a van and it allows me to get reliable reception with out being in the front seat.
I highly recommend it for any application where line of sight to the sats is a problem. Since using the external antenna, I have had no signal loss problems at all. I use the TT external antenna in my Class A Motorhome. The roof overhang is such that the internal antenna sometimes lost the signal.
